From Acapulco to Mazatlán, the beaches with a yellow traffic light that remain open to the public after the change from Sinaloa to yellow

These are the destinations that are kept on yellow traffic lights

Although the state of Guerrero is on a red light, Acapulco and Mazatlán keep their beaches on a yellow light due to Covid-19.

Acapulco, Zihuatanejo, and Chilpancingo will remain in yellow with a hotel occupancy of 70 percent, the state government indicated.

Last weekend, the destination’s beaches and its hotels were saturated with national and international tourists.

“We are not going to close the doors. There are restrictions, we are not 100 percent and the yellow traffic light will remain in Acapulco and Ixtapa, ”said Governor Héctor Astudillo.

Acapulco and the state hope to recover a bit from the pandemic crisis with reservations for the Christmas season.

For its part, Mazatlán indicated in a statement that they are passing a yellow traffic light, although they will strictly maintain their health protocols.

Companies require a support plan from the federal government.

The federal Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) indicated that Mazatlán was one of the beach destinations that drove the reactivation of the sector.

All the beaches in Mazatlán are open, although with special hours to keep coronavirus infections low.

For his part, the president of the Destination Hotels Association said that they hope to close the year with an occupancy of at least 76 percent.

“Starting this Saturday there will be a hotel occupancy of between 74 and 76 percent, which will leave a good spill for the port,” he said.

Although the national panorama remains with the majority of states in the red, in Mazatlán they expect tourists to arrive to spend the end of the year.

In 2019, around this time, both beach destinations typically posted nearly 100 percent occupancy.
