Curfew implemented in Yucatan

The authorities reiterate the call to stay home to avoid regrowth of COVID 19.

A few hours before the Christmas Eve and Christmas celebrations, in Yucatan the positive cases of coronavirus total 25,846 and the deaths 2,849.

Some municipalities resumed restrictions on mobility, such as Kanasín, which established that from December 23 to January 4, 2021, no vehicle or people may circulate from 11:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the next day, except surveillance and emergency vehicles.

Nor will they allow celebrations on public roads, including parks, which will remain closed on December 24, 25, and 31, and January 1, 2021. Citizens were invited to celebrate at home with their first family circle and avoid meetings that exceed 20 attendees. The City Council of the Kanasin municipality ordered the Municipal Police to monitor compliance with the measures.

In the case of Mérida, citizens will have to modify the traditional end-of-year celebrations, since the restriction on mobility starts at 11:30 at night.

The Mérida City Council did not authorize requests for street closures like last year when around 200 blocks were closed.

Report before Christmas

This Tuesday the Ministry of Health (SSY) reported 76 positive cases and seven deaths (three men and four women) from Covid-19.

Now there are 25,846 infections and 2,849 deaths, corresponding to 1,798 men (three foreigners) and 1,151 women (one foreigner). Of the total positive cases, 22,100 have already recovered and represented 85 percent of the total.

Until today there are 897 active cases, people who have presented symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 14 days. The SSY also reported that 732 of the active cases are stable, isolated, monitored by medical personnel; have mild symptoms.

Hospitalizations total 165 and there are others hospitalized awaiting diagnosis. Of the 76 new positive cases, they were confirmed: 43 in Mérida, 13 in Valladolid, three in Kanasín, two in Ticul, Tinum and Umán, and one in the municipalities of Dzitás, Espita, Mayapán, Progreso, Santa Elena, Sucilá, Tekax , Temozón, Tixkokob and Tizimín.

Those who died yesterday are, in the case of men: 44 years old, from Mérida, with diabetes, hypertension, kidney failure, and smoking; 91 years old, from Tunkás, with diabetes and hypertension, and 31 years old, from Mérida, with immunosuppression. The women are 63 years old, from Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo, with diabetes and hypertension; 51 years old, from Baca, with diabetes, hypertension and kidney failure; 59 years old, from Muxupip, with diabetes and hypertension, and 64 years old, from Abalá, with diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.
