The Ministry of Tourism estimates that this month Mazatlán will have a hotel occupancy of more than 70%
Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Despite the pandemic of the Covid-19, the state of Sinaloa close the year 2020 with an average hotel occupancy of 60%, advanced the Secretary of Tourism, Oscar Perez Barros.
He stated that for this month the accommodation establishments of the state, in general, expect an occupancy above 65% and in the case of Mazatlán it will be higher than 70%.
He admitted that the reactivation has been very positive for Mazatlán; the national-regional market has shown a preference for the destination due to the road connectivity it has and its attractions, such as its beaches, the Malecón, the lighthouse, history, culture, and gastronomy.
“We have very good expectations for this month, we hope to have 65% in the week, we already know that on weekends it will rebound a little more, by the end of the year Mazatlán will receive many tourists,” he said. Pérez Barros added that the international market is also expected to rebound, mainly in the United States and Canada, but everything will depend on the behavior of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Everything is very uncertain, but we hope that by the end of the year everything will be fine and national tourism can arrive, in the case of international tourism it seems that the quarantine restriction could be eliminated in Canada and that would help us to reactivate that market”,
For now, the state official invited tourists and locals to continue to comply with health protocols and avoid Christmas posadas, to avoid infections, and continue to keep the state of Sinaloa on a yellow traffic light.
“That the tourism sector chain continues to implement and make tourists abide by the protocols, that is what we seek, we are progressing more and more with public areas; Transport I think we are on the right path, we must take great care, avoid as much as possible the inns and all this that can rebound infections, “he concluded.
