The pandemic and the consequent economic effects caused the transformation industry to register job losses that, in some sectors, reach up to 40 percent.

Magdalena Gaucín Morales, president of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra) in Durango, explained that the labor impact during this year was presented gradually, which varies according to the different industrial sectors.

She referred in particular to the case of the export sector, it was the one that was able to recover the fastest from the job losses it had registered due to the spread of the coronavirus globally and locally, to the extent that currently it goes from 10 to 20 percent.

“We are closing an atypical year because after the health issue comes the economic issue, which has hit us very hard. What we hope is that the economy can finally be reactivated, especially due to the health issue, ”said the Canacintra leader at the state level.

But another of the expectations for the rest of the year focuses on the possibility of generating investments, in order to recover some of what was lost throughout 2020 due to Covid-19.

“We have a 9 percent contraction. Although there were months that we had it at best in double digits, especially in the secondary sector, which was finally able to recover because we had the economy paralyzed for two months ”, Gaucín Morales concluded.
