Puerto Peñasco, Sonora.- Hundreds of Mexican and American motorcyclists arrived in Puerto Peñasco last weekend despite the cancellation of the twentieth edition of the Rocky Point Rally.

Oscar Palacio Soto, the main organizer, announced that this year the traditional events were not organized, such as the stages for rock groups on 13th Street and the Malecón, motorcycle parade, guided expeditions, exhibitions, and acrobatics among others.

Even so, he said that those who decided to come to the port to spend their weekend on their motorcycle are welcome.

For its part, the municipal police, in coordination with the state police and the Secretary of the Navy, maintains a presence operation at the entrance to the Puerto Peñasco-Sonoyta highway, where most motorcyclists enter, this as part of the Lukeville Safe Corridor -Puerto Peñasco.

These people traveled for hours to spend these days in the city and not lose the tradition, they came from different places in Sonora, Arizona, California, and Baja California.

This event takes place every November and is one of the most important motorcycle rallies in northwestern Mexico, attracting over 15,000 tourists who come as spectators.

As many know, this was supposed to be our 20th Anniversary celebration! Even so, Puerto Peñasco welcomes bikers, friends, and visitors who had planned to join us for this year’s event, originally scheduled for Nov. 11th – 15th, but under a series of strict health protocols that we’ve been going over with health and government officials. This will include mandatory use of masks and guidelines for social distancing, among other measures to be announced.

We’d appreciate your visit this Fall, but if you’re not on board with the health measures that will be in effect, we ask you to sit this trip out and join us next year for our 20th Anniversary celebration.
