Italian child kidnapped in Manzanillo, Colima is rescued by FGE’s Specialized Unit

The FGE’s Specialized Unit to Combat Kidnapping rescued a child of foreign nationality who was kidnapped in Manzanillo, Colima; one of the captors was arrested.

The boy was kidnapped at the end of October in Manzanillo’s Francisco Villa ejido, and according to the report one suspect has been arrested and is under the custody of the FGE.

The kid of Italian nationality was abducted on October 29th when he went to a local convenience store with two friends, but he was rescued safe and sound on November 9th, in a mountainous area near ​​the port of Manzanillo.

The rescue was accomplished thanks to the investigation and intelligence work of the Specialized Unit to Combat the Crime of Kidnapping of the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Colima.

Tactical and operational personnel from the National Anti-Kidnapping Coordination and the Zacatecas State Attorney’s Office also participated.

The boy was kidnapped by three men in the Francisco Villa ejido when he went out to a self-service store in the company of some friends.

According to the records of the Colima Prosecutor’s Office , during 2019 there were 18 kidnappings and 6 so far this year.

This is the first case of a kidnapped child since the creation of the Specialized Unit to Combat Kidnapping in 2014.
