Óscar Pérez Barros, Sinaloa State Secretary of Tourism, explained that in 2019, the year that has registered the most arrivals during the current state administration, a total of 140 ships arrived.

But by 2021, the official pointed out, a total of 255 could arrive, that is, 115 more ships than the best year so far.

“The positive of all this is that in all these talks about the design of the (health) protocols on the cruise ships we have learned of the intention of arrivals from Sinaloa of 255 cruises for 2021, hoping that this will be reactivated as of January, ”he declared.

“The year we had the most in this administration was in 2019, with a total of 140 arrivals, so the growth that is being anticipated when the cruise ships return is positive.”

The Secretary said that one of the reasons for the increase in the number of arrivals is the fact that there has been greater demand and the tourist offer in Mazatlán has changed.

“Why is this happening? Because the destination is very attractive, the tourist offer has changed, the protocols that are being carried out are attractive for the cruise lines, and it must be remembered, many of the routes that they had for Europe are being sent to the Pacific instead. Let’s hope that very soon we will have good news and positive agreements with the United States for the return of the cruise ships, ”said Pérez Barros.

So far, however, there is no specific confirmation date on the return of the cruise ships to Mazatlan.
