Mazatlan.- An intense day of cleaning in different stretches of the port beach was carried out this Saturday by the team of the Beach Operator who joined forces with the young people of “Save our planet” to clean North Beach and with the members of the Moto club “Centauros de Juárez, Mazatlán chapter” to remove waste from Olas Altas.

The OAP also cleaned Pinitos, Gaviotas and a long stretch of beach on Avenida del Mar.

The instruction of the Mayor of Mazatlán, Chemist Benitez Torres, is to work for a cleaner, tidier and safer beaches for locals and visitors, so this type of conference, in addition to helping with cleaning, allows progress in the goal of generating awareness for preventing our coasts from getting dirty.

The Director of the OAP, Jorge Contreras, reported that a total of just over 300 kilos of garbage were removed from the beaches this Saturday, especially concentrated in the pangas area of ​​Playa Norte and the Olas Altas area.

He added that hundreds of cigarette butts, dozens of screw caps, straws, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans, as well as large amounts of microplastics and Styrofoam, are still found in the sand, for which he reiterated the call for users to take away your trash after enjoying a day at the beach.
