Good nutrition, key to avoid serious COVID-19 pictures
● In patients with COVID-19, a diet that includes all the food groups is recommended to speed recovery.
● Yesterday 741 positive cases and 29 deaths were reported due to the SARS-CoV-2 infection in the State.
This October 16, World Food Day, the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) reiterates that balanced nutrition in patients with COVID-19 is essential to reduce the risk of presenting a serious disease, accelerate recovery and avoid the disnutrition.
Along with the medications that COVID-19 patients receive, adequate nutrition is essential and plays a very important role during the care process.
Patients should receive a balanced diet, that is, one that includes all food groups through a plan that adjusts to the specific requirements of each patient, after evaluating their nutritional status so that the eating plan is as efficient as possible.
Fruits, vegetables, cereals, legumes, derived from milk, proteins of animal origin, are key to providing the body with essential nutrients during convalescence from COVID-19.
Although food is very important for recovery from the disease, the SJS emphasizes that the best way to prevent contagion is by respecting voluntary isolation, healthy distance, and the use of a mask.
The SSJ reiterates the call not to lower our guard and to adopt preventive measures to take care of ourselves and vulnerable groups. At home, hygiene and sanitation must be ensured, both of the home and of the residents when they return home after doing some activity outside. People confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 infection should try to isolate themselves from other members of the household.
If you go out into the public space, it is recommended that it be for a short time, use the mask properly (which can reduce the risk of contagion by up to 90 percent), avoid crowds -especially in closed spaces-, maintain a distance of 1.5 meters between people, and wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use alcohol gel.
It is also very important to be alert to the presence of symptoms such as a fever that does not subside, shortness of breath or to register an oxygen saturation lower than 92 percent, and to go immediately to a medical unit, without waiting for the result of a laboratory test to SARS-CoV-2.
Today Jalisco reported 741 new infections of COVID-19, detected thanks to the RADAR System, with which 81,362 confirmed cases have accumulated, since last March – when the first sick person in the State was notified – to date.
