The vector and zoonosis coordinator announced that this part of the city has produced the highest number of cases recently

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Víctor Arredondo Rojas, Coordinator of Vectors and Zoonoses of the Sanitary Jurisdiction Number 6, announced that the areas where there is a greater presence of Dengue cases is the northern part of the city, in colonies such as Pradera Dorada, Lomas del Ébano, Flores Magón, Villa Florida, Bugambilias, Urías, among others.

The Mazatlecos are not only afraid of the contagion of COVID, but also of the bite of a Dengue-transmitting mosquito, for which the vector and zoonosis workers have continued to carry out preventive actions in the city.

The main of these actions is the fumigation of areas where dengue cases are reported, in order to cut transmission, however, the pandemic hampered some of these preventions.

“We are taking actions since the COVID pandemic is present; we have been treating cases of suspected dengue patients where we do fumigation work. What we could not do was the application of larvicide in the water tanks, due to the specific situation of the pandemic, he mentioned.

The coordinator revealed that one of the actions that has not been neglected is discarding, from which 20 to 24 tons of carracho are removed for each colony.

Arredondo Rojas stressed that it will seek to increase from 2 to 3 colonies per weekend, were to provide greater coverage.
