Real de Catorce recognized on the National Day of Magical Towns

The Secretary of Tourism, Arturo Esper congratulated the people of Real del Catorce who have preserved the authenticity of the people during the event in CDMX

San Luis Potosí, SLP.- “Real de Catorce, the first magical town of San Luis Potosí and second in appointment in the country, was honored within the framework of the National Day of Magical Towns this Monday, October 5, during an event held with Federal Government authorities , a national pride due to its important mining tradition that makes it an emblematic place where, thanks to its people, the culture and tradition of this town is preserved”, said the Secretary of Tourism of San Luis Potosí, Arturo Esper Sulaimán.

During his speech, the state official recognized the Federal Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, for decreeing one day to those who are part of the Magic Towns Program, as he said, it is a recognition of each of them and, above all, it will contribute to conserving its essence and intangible cultural heritage. “The Magical Towns of our country have been a benchmark for 19 years that provides a special identity of cultural riches, gastronomy, history, and tradition for national and international tourists,” he said.

Real de Catorce, located in the Potosino Altiplano, of mining origins and religious identity is the classic Magic Town of Mexico, which since its inception in this program in 2001, has come a long way in which the different local authorities have done everything possible to retain the appointment, as well as the service providers that, since that decade to date, have increased and mostly trained services such as hotels, restaurants, tourist guides and other local operators.

Besides that, with its unsurpassed landscapes, it has been the scene of important locations in more than a dozen films. 

Finally, Esper Sulaimán pointed out that San Luis Potosí has ​​three magical towns, each of them already highly recognized for their attributes and the reason why the entity will host the Tianguis Nacional de Pueblos Mágicos from November 26 to 29, an event that will undoubtedly promote the wealth of tourism among visitors and professionals in this industry.
