The president indicated that José Rafael Ojeda, Secretary of the Navy (Semar), and Laura Velázquez, in charge of the National Civil Protection Coordination, will leave for Quintana Roo to address the situation of Hurricane Delta.

“I want to make it known that Admiral Ojeda, Secretary of the Navy, is about to leave for Quintana Roo with the director of Civil Protection to personally manage the situation with this approaching hurricane, Delta, that has been monitored for several days,” he said.

“We are going to be vigilant and hopefully the hurricane loses strength or changes its course, but we are working on that, informing the population and telling them that they must be attentive to what is required, what is needed, also the recommendation to protect ourselves and our families”, AMLO said.

“But it is important that people heed the recommendations, if necessary, we must go to shelters, it is better to prevent, according to the predictions it will hit harder at dawn, we have all day to get to a safe shelter, to pay attention to the recommendations ”, informed the Mexican president.

As we have reported, Delta is close to being a Category 3 hurricane on the Safirr-Simpson scale. It could become a powerful Hurricane 4 when it makes landfall in the Yucatan Peninsula.

In Yucatán and Quintana Roo, yellow and orange alerts have already been established.
