‘El Otro Sabor de Mazatlán’ a delightful virtual gastronomic festival

Mazatleco Chef Julián Portugal and the Restaurant ‘El Parador Español‘ shine like the Mazatlan sun as hosts on the first day of the virtual gastronomic festival ‘El Otro Sabor de Mazatlán’.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa (September 25, 2020).- On the first day of activities of the virtual gastronomic festival “El Otro Sabor de Mazatlán”, the palates of the guest chefs and special guests were delighted with a fusion of Spanish and Sinaloan culinary concepts.

On Thursday, September 24, Chef Julián Portugal Díaz and the Restaurant “El Parador Español” kicked off the virtual festival by serving a four-course menu, which highlighted the flavor of Mazatlan products.

Portugal Díaz, representative of the Canirac Mazatlán, of the Cocinas Collective and chef of the aforementioned restaurant, presented the menu that included piquillo peppers stuffed with pickled marlin, garlic prawns, salad with bacon dressing and as a main course, seafood paella.

The menu was accompanied by red wine, white wine, Los Osuna Tequila and agave mezcal.

Rosie O’Connor, Sergio Camacho, Zahie Téllez and Míriam Lira Pacheco are the “foreign” chefs invited to this first virtual gastronomic festival, while Julián Portugal, Héctor Peniche, Andrea Lizárraga, Fernando Guajardo and Luis Osuna all from Mazatlan, are also participating in the event.

During the kick off of “El Otro Sabor de Mazatlán” Mayor Luis Guillermo Benitez Torres; Óscar Pérez Barros, head of Sectur Sinaloa; Luis Terán Tirado, Sedectur dispatch manager; José Ángel Tostado Quevedo, Director of Culture, as well as Miguel Taniyama, from Canirac Mazatlán; Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, from Concanaco, and Jesús Rafael Sandoval, from Canaco Servytur were all present (in the virtual space of course).
