Through Public Works, the Mayor orders asphalt, concrete to improve streets and avenues of the city
Mazatlan.- The Municipal Government headed by Mayor Luis Guillermo Benitez Torres, through the Directorate of Public Works, reinforced its patching program this rainy season, reported Juan de Dios Garay Velázquez, head of said agency.
He commented that the City Council has a permanent patching program and every day they place up to 10 cubic meters of asphalt concrete in different parts of the city, and this day it is working on Avenida Gabriel Leyva, one of the main roads of the port.
He explained that the section located between the access to the “Alfredo V. Bonfil” Industrial Park and the Juarez Bridge, is a very deteriorated area due to the passage of cargo vehicles and the floods that are generated by the rains.
“It is an asphalt concrete folder placed on a hydraulic concrete pavement. Here, the presence of water causes the folder to rapidly deteriorate and we have to be doing this (the pothole) on a daily basis ”.
He recalled that the same treatment was performed approximately ago and today they returned to the place with around 30 workers.
He pointed out that this road has already reached its useful life and there is a project for the complete replacement of the pavement, as has been done in the main avenues of the city, including Rafael Buelna, Del Mar, Gutiérrez Nájera, and currently in Camarón Sábalo.
“In the plans of the Municipal Government, the Chemical President Benitez has already commented that Gabriel Leyva is going; that is the intention and I think that right now he is very busy in the search for resources to finance this work ”.
Garay Velázquez commented that a comprehensive work is contemplated on this avenue, with the complete replacement of the pavement and the drinking water and drainage networks, as has been done in the roads that have been rehabilitated, modernized, and equipped by the Municipality and State in the city.
