Ismael Barros Cebreros, director of Espectáculos Costa del Pacífico, regrets the cancellation of the 22nd edition of the Great Pacific Marathon.

After giving the official announcement, Barros Cebreros regretted that the situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which occurs worldwide, slows the sporting event.

“A piece of news that we hoped would not happen, the cancellation of the Great Pacific Marathon in its 22nd edition, but the situation does not allow it, the state and municipal authorities have been consulted, it is impossible to do so, but we continue with enthusiasm of all the years.

“It is the first time that it has been canceled, it was consecutive for 21 years, but we are ready with the hope and commitment that next year we will be better,” he said.

The decision made was based on the health and safety of the participants, as well as the public in general, said the director of Spectacles Costa del Pacífico, who saw the birth of the GMP.

“Some sadness, but it is something that cannot be avoided, be aware that it is for health and safety, many things have happened due to the current situation, we were hoping how to carry out the event.

“We are sad, but proud to have been since the first time we went to ask permission to do so and that makes me feel very proud,” he concluded.

The fair would celebrate its 22nd edition next year, at the end of November, where around 10,000 runners were expected.
