Have you ever said no to Cancun because it is too expensive? This time we set out to show that, although it is an international destination with an immense tourist offer, not everything here is luxury and it is possible to find affordable options adaptable to your plans and preferences.
We are looking for eight affordable accommodations in Cancun , which have a good balance between price and services. That is, we are not looking for the cheapest in the city, but some of the places that offer you more for less money. All have implemented changes to offer greater security after the Covid-19 contingency
We take into account only prices for private rooms and all include taxes; however, there is an extra tax of 26 pesos at the destination for the new biosecurity measures. The rates we are looking for are for the month of October, which is low season.
Selina Cancun Laguna
It is like a luxury hostel because, although in addition to private rooms it offers shared dorms, it is characterized by its attractive decoration, variety of activities and services. Of course, the prices are still cheap and offer free cancellation up to one day before your arrival. It is located in the Hotel Zone of Cancun .
Their cheapest private room is called Micro. It is a small space with a bed for two people, like the cabin that you would find on a train or a ship (you can see it in the photo, two paragraphs below); it has a shared bathroom with up to four rooms of the same category. Staying here would cost you 544 pesos per night for two people or 754 pesos if they want to include breakfast.
A totally private standard room costs you from 1,142 pesos per night in double occupancy.
Selina Cancun Laguna has a garden, an outdoor pool, a Yucatecan-style restaurant, a wellness center with massages and a workspace (in case you travelhttps://www.selina.com/es/ for this purpose). You can book tours directly with the administration.
One Cancun Downtown
It is a simple hotel but with all the basic amenities, designed for travelers arriving for work. It is located in the city center, 10 minutes by car from the Hotel Zone. It has a restaurant and an outdoor pool.
A room for two people with television and air conditioning costs you 1,63 pesos per night. Cancellation is free until one day before your arrival. Breakfast is complimentary.
All Ritmo Cancun
A family hotel with standard rooms that have air conditioning and television; some face the sea. There are four restaurants (one of them specializing in Mexican cuisine and the other in Italian) and a bar that you can access by swimming in the pool. It also offers direct access to the beach.
The hotel is a 20-minute drive from the Hotel Zone. There are two water parks within its grounds. The first is included for all guests and has a children’s area, courts and animation team. The other is extra cost (489 pesos per adult) and offers a greater variety of activities: four slides that end in the sea and kayaks, for example.
A standard room for two people has a rate of 1,451 pesos per night, with free cancellation up to four days before your arrival; contemplate breakfast. The all-inclusive plan costs you 2,642 with the same cancellation policy.
Entire condominium
This is one of the two options that we will show you that are available on Airbnb. It is a two-bedroom apartment within a residential complex located in the Hotel Zone. It has a sofa with television, kitchen and air conditioning. It is very close to two beaches.
The property owner is recognized as a “super host,” which means that his property is outstanding and highly rated by guests. It also has the Advanced Cleaning badge, awarded to hosts who have committed to following the new biosecurity standards developed by Airbnb to the letter (not mandatory, but a plus).

NYX Cancun
It is located in the Hotel Zone and has access to the beach. The rooms in this hotel have air conditioning, minibar and television. There are two pools, one with activities for all guests and a quieter one to rest. You have to choose between four restaurants (one of them specializing in Italian cuisine, one Japanese and one in front of the beach), as well as two bars. You can also relax in the spa, which includes reflexology massages on its menu.
A room with breakfast for two people costs you 1,943 pesos per night. The all-inclusive plan has a rate of 3,509 pesos per night. You can cancel for free up to 72 hours before your stay.
Emporium
It is located in the Hotel Zone and offers direct access to the beach. Each room has air conditioning, a balcony and a minibar. For guests there are two restaurants, as well as a pool bar and another on the beach.
A room for two people costs you 2,169 pesos per night. If you wanted it in an all-inclusive plan, the rate would be 3,866 pesos. Cancellation would be free up to five days before your check-in.
Room near the beach
This is our second Airbnb pick. It is a hotel-type room (although it is private property) located on a beach in the Hotel Zone. The site has two double beds and a sofa bed; includes a terrace overlooking the garden and the Nichupté lagoon. It also has air conditioning, minibar and microwave. There is a pool outside the building and guests can access the beach.
The owner is considered a “super host” and also holds the Advanced Cleaning badge.

Occidental Costa Cancun
It is in front of the beach, in the heart of the Hotel Zone. It offers all-inclusive plans for all its guests, in Mediterranean-style rooms with air conditioning, free minibar and television. You can choose between four restaurants (one of them on the seashore) and two bars. There is a large pool with a shallow area, a fountain and loungers in the water. In addition, the hotel has all-day entertainment and a spa.
A night for two people costs you 3,146 pesos, in an all-inclusive plan. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your arrival.
