Tourists can find souvenirs from 10 pesos to 250 pesos

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- A few days after the end of the school vacation period, the sale of handicrafts in Mazatláncontinues to decline, in this new normal.

The vendors located in front of the Aquarium pointed out that despite an increase in tourists in recent weeks, there has been no rebound, since people are economically limited.

Sales have been quiet, not like other years, it is holidays and it seems that it is a normal weekend, the truth is that in this new normal, sales have decreased by 60%, he said

They expressed that sales register levels of 40% and on weekends they go up 50% with the arrival of tourists, mainly from the northern states.

They pointed out that the items that are sold the most are key rings, which range from 10 to 30 pesos; the cups cost between 40 and 150 pesos, depending on the material and size.

In the different stalls that are in the parking lot of the Mazatlán Aquarium, you can also find shirts for 100 pesos, bags for 180 pesos, hats for 200 pesos and a series of articles based on sand and sea shells, ranging from 35 at 140 pesos.

Arnoldo, who has been a handicraft vendor for about 50 years, commented that he had never seen a situation similar to what is happening with the coronavirus pandemic and that it has greatly affected his economy.

“This year has been very critical. Yes, tourism is arriving, but they come very limited and of course something is better than nothing, but we were already used to a different rate of sale ”, he said.
