“La Teniente”, leader of the Northeast Cartel, is arrested in Tamaulipas

Guadalupe Villarreal Gómez, alias “La Teniente”, one of the most violent leaders of the Northeast Cartel, according to the Ministry of National Defense, was detained on this border with her romantic partner.

Sedena, through a statement, indicated that “La Teniente”, 41, was detained with another woman who also belongs to this criminal cell in the Sandía neighborhood of Nuevo Laredo.  

Guadalupe Villarreal reportedly served as bodyguard for Sofía del Carmen Monsivais Treviño, niece of Miguel Ángel Treviño Morales ‘El Z-40’ .

Sometime later, she became responsible for the charges for the kidnappings carried out by the Northeast Cartel.

‘La Teniente’ was born in Nuevo León and was a state police officer and in Nuevo Laredo where he led a team that collected extortion from businesses and “floor rights” to operate bars and nightclubs.

The Ministry of National Defense named her as responsible for the “control of informants (hawks) who monitor the movements of the authorities and rival groups.”

This woman “was in charge of intimidating authorities from the three levels of government, so that they would collaborate with the CDN.

He is also credited with being in charge of recruiting hired killers, ”reports the Sedena statement.

The Secretary of National Defense indicates that ‘La Teniente’ also supervised arms trafficking from the United States and later distributed it among all the organization’s criminal cells.

The Northeast Cartel , the former Zetas, have control over Nuevo Laredo, where much of the land trade between Mexico and the United States crosses.

This group shows ‘La Tropa del Infierno’, which has generated confrontations with elite groups of the Tamaulipas Police and against members of the Mexican Army.
