In July, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Sinaloa discharged a total of 554 Covid-19 patients for improvement after being under treatment

Sinaloa.- The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Sinaloa, reported that  a total of 554 patients with COVID-19 were discharged for improvement during the month of July , after being under treatment, thanks to the various treatments that received during their stays in hospitals.

The supervising doctor of the Head of Medical Benefits, of the IMSS Representation Office in Sinaloa, Manuel Alejandro González Fernández, reported that those who are hospitalized for this disease receive treatment according to their needs, thanks to which they were able to return with their families.

An average of 17.9 discharges per day

González Fernández indicated that during the month of July, there was an average of 17.9 discharges per day and that the patients remained around nine days hospitalized, on average.

The doctor noted that not all people diagnosed with COVID-19 require hospitalization, but it is important that an assessment of their symptoms be made, for which the Respiratory Triage areas were installed in each of the Family Medicine Units ( UMF) and in the IMSS hospitals in the state.

The doctor who is in charge of this service evaluates the case and from there the decision arises, whether hospitalization is needed or can be managed with home isolation, González Fernández stressed.

The specialist noted that although there are numerous recoveries, there are also patients who unfortunately have a less fortunate outcome, so it is important to redouble social isolation measures, the culture of handwashing and, in case of having to leave home, apply the healthy distance.

” It is necessary that we avoid, at all costs, go through a period of hospitalization. How can we avoid it? Really abiding by the indications of social distancing, mainly, to avoid catching us ”, the medical official recommended.

Finally, he asked the population not to trust and not relax preventive measures, since this would be a mistake that can leave families exposed to contagion, or entire work groups, and therefore saturate health services.
