Culiacán.- The State Health Safety Council in its 20th session agreed to intensify a campaign on the use of mouthguards throughout Sinaloa, as a preventive measure against Covid-19, recommending it as necessary and indispensable among the population.
Dr. Efrén Encinas Torres, Secretary of State Health, explained that two meetings ago some determinations had already been made on the use of this garment as a preventive method, for which reason an awareness campaign was requested towards the population of the massive use of masks, because as the World Health Organization indicates, this would allow the number of infections to drop.
“Undoubtedly, it is the suggestion, and the recommendation, for the use of mouthguards, it must be broad and used by the population, and we have already discussed in order to collect some amounts to deliver to the citizenship to those who are necessary, for example in public transport, restaurants, self-service stores, etc., so a scheme is already in the pipeline, “said Encinas Torres.
He recalled that the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as experts on the subject, have expressed that the use of masks on a massive basis would allow the Covid-19 pandemic to be under control for 8 to 12 weeks, from hence the importance of raising awareness among Sinaloans of using it.
“The WHO also recommends it, I mention it because before there were controversies before whether it was good, whether it protected or not, the reality is that it does protect, and the suggestion is that it be widely used”: Efrén Encinas.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Government, Gonzalo Gómez Flores, recalled that this use should be generalized, always appealing to inform the population of the benefits of its use.
It was also agreed that the delivery application and awareness campaigns on the use of the mouth mask will be in broad coordination with the mayors of the 18 municipalities, in addition to citizen organizations for better operation.
During the meeting were representatives of all the secretaries of the State Government, as well as health entities such as IMSS, ISSSTE, Civil Hospital, among others, in addition to accredited citizen representatives.
