The Governors of Aguascalientes, Martín Orozco, and of San Luis Potosí, Juan Manuel Carreras, joined the so-called Federalist Alliance, bringing together 11 leaders who seek to build alliances to meet the needs of the population in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. and the economic crisis in parallel to the federation and the National Conference of Governors (Conago).
Yesterday, they held a working meeting in Durango, after having suspended their sessions when President Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, from Tamaulipas, gave positive to COVID-19.
Among the agreements reached is the development of a pattern of availability of medical and nursing personnel, to launch a call and generate new hires. This to rotate the doctors and nurses, who are in the front line of battle.
In economic matters, the creation of an Investment Council or Promotion Unit was raised, financed by entities to replace ProMéxico and promote investment abroad.
Among the positions of this bloc of governors, the demand to the federal government to obtain a better fiscal distribution also stands out, in addition to convening a National Finance Convention –according to Michoacán, Silvano Aureoles– “urgent and necessary”.
“It is due to an unfair distribution of public finances because it is not possible for there to be entities that have a per capita allocation of almost 11 thousand pesos, while in another it does not even reach five thousand,” he added.
Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, Governor of Nuevo León, rejected that this group is an electoral bloc for 2021 since at the moment it is the pandemic and the economic reactivation that are on the agenda. “Let the hell be known if we get to 2021. We are not talking about it, not at all, we are not interested, perhaps the center is concerned about it, but we are interested in the alliance to save lives and revive the economy,” he said.
Until now, the group of leaders would be made up of the governors of Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Nuevo León, Durango, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Coahuila, Colima and Jalisco.
