The traffic light comes to ‘red’ in front of the Monument to the Fisherman and the Oliviera Carp
MAZATLAN._ In this second weekend after the reopening of the tourist sector in Mazatlan, the number of bathers increased, so it was necessary to close some areas of beaches to reach the limit of their capacity allowed during this health emergency by Covid- 19.
From the early hours of the day, dozens of people began to arrive at the beaches of this port, from the Isla de la Piedra to Punta Cerritos and the first areas with the highest influx around noon were Pinitos and Playa Norte, near the Monument to the Fisherman.
It was precisely in the North Beach, from a well-known seafood restaurant to the Monument to the Fisherman, the first area where the entry of bathers was restricted after 2:00 p.m. when it reached its capacity limit of 200 people.
Around 4:45 p.m. access was also restricted and only swimmers were allowed to leave in the Oliviera Tent, on Paseo Olas Altas, for reaching its limit of 100 people allowed at that site so that the healthy distance is respected established in the present health contingency by Covid 19 and the traffic light.
“In those two areas the traffic light is already red,” said the staff of the Aquatic Squadron of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat.
About 5:00 p.m. in the beach area in front of the Old Social Security Clinic, it already had a yellow or amber light, indicating that it was about to reach its capacity of 200 people, so it was about to be restricted also the access of more bathers in that place and only the exits would be allowed.
To control that no one else entered the moment the beaches reached their maximum allowed capacity, elements of the SSPM placed metal fences to control access.

That is why yesterday afternoon the beach next to the Monument to the Monument to the Fisherman and Pinitos were completely surrounded by metal fences and from 16:45 hours these fences were also placed in front of the Oliviera Tent.
Although they said they did not have an accurate number on hand until around 5:00 p.m. lifeguards estimated that there was an influx of about 2,400 people on the beaches of Mazatlan.
They also stated that although the sea conditions were calm, until that hour-seven rescued people had been taken both on the beaches in front of Avenida del Mar and in the Playa Brujas area.
However, as it was eight days ago, the influx of bathers to the Mazatlan beaches is expected to be greater than yesterday, lifeguards said.
But the influx of visitors was also seen on the boardwalk where some people among children, adolescents and adults walked enjoying the scenery by the sea despite the very hot environment of more than 31 degrees Celsius.
Visitors also enjoyed food and drinks in palapas or in restaurants, took parachute rides, or listened to tunes with music bands that offered their services on the beaches.
During the day there was also an increase in vehicular traffic in sections of Avenida del Mar and Avenida Camarón Sábalo due to renovation works, but at around 17:00 yesterday, there was no longer any such problem, so the traffic that it was very fluid in that area of the city.
