Canaco Servytur Mazatlan general secretary estimates that this weekend hotel will reach occupations of up to 40 or 50 percent

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- The trend indicates that Mazatlan will be one of the tourist destinations that will have a faster recovery than other important destinations in the country, said Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, general secretary of the Canaco Servytur in Mazatlán.

“Mazatlán will undoubtedly be one of the destinations that will be able to recover faster than others, compared to Los Cabos, compared to Cancún, which has brought percentages of 15 percent occupancy, 20 percent at most” he explained.

In this regard, the businessman stressed that Mazatlan, in its first two weeks of tourist revival, has maintained higher percentages, and estimated that in this second-week levels of up to 50 percent are achieved.

“The first two weekends have been very positive; this weekend we are going to reach between 40 and 50 percent occupancy (in hotels) and we must also consider the tourism that a house rent, which is a very important number, “he stressed.

Romero Rodríguez pointed out that it will be important to focus on attracting national tourists who travel by road since he commented that due to the health emergency there is a fear of traveling through airplanes.

He reiterated that the connectivity that Mazatlan maintains is one of the key factors to achieve this recovery, in addition to the importance of “sending” a message of confidence to tourists.

“We are going to walk in averages in the middle of 2019 due to the COVID-19 situation that we are experiencing today; the important thing is to be open and give a positive message, we have to take great care of the destination, a lot of vacationers: we have to take care of the reopening ”, expressed Guillermo Romero Rodríguez.
