Dead sea turtle found in Mazatlan beach

Mazatlán, Sinaloa (June 30, 2020).- A sea turtle specimen was found lifeless on the beaches of Mazatlán.

The report of the finding was made public by the agents of the Aquatic Salvage Squadron and it was mentioned that near the offices of the Base Capta on Avenida del Mar in the beach area, a lifeless chelonian had been located.

The manager of Conservation of the Marine Turtle of the Mazatlán Aquarium, biologist José Barrón, was notified and he was in charge of giving the report to Profepa.

Regarding the characteristics of the turtle, it was revealed that it measured approximately 69 centimeters long by 40 centimeters wide and with the naked eye there were no traces of having been injured.

In the absence of the corresponding environmental authorities, the ESA elements were in charge of burying the marine species in the sand on the beach.

The aquatic squad members mentioned that it is the first specimen that has been located lifeless in recent months and that they found it on the shore on early morning hours of Tuesday, June 30.
