Closing of the cinema in Mazatlán was ‘because it is not time yet’

The coordinator of Civil Protection in Mazatlán, Eloy Ruíz Gastélum, assured that the closing of the cinema in Mazatlán was due to the fact that it is not time to return to normality yet.

Inexplicably, the Cinépolis chain headquarters based in Morelia, Michoacan, ordered the reopening of its Mazatlan Cinema complex, but that didn’t last more than five hours because the Mazatlán City Council ‘closed’ it indefinitely.

“It is not yet time for the theaters to operate, taking into account that the traffic light in Sinaloa is still red due to the number of Covid-19 infections and apparently we do not have a date to reopen, it may be tomorrow, the day after, next week, no one knows, there is no date, “Ruíz Gastélum warned.

For his part, David González Torrentera, Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries in Mazatlán, said that in the port the opening of shops of some turns, such as cinemas, has not yet been defined and this is one of the establishments that can more easily cause the spread of the virus.

“Next Monday the mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres will give information regarding the reopening and the economic activation and I think it would be very prudent for us to wait to see what time limits the reopening and reactivation of the different lines of business will be defined,” he stressed.
