Through a statement, the Civil Association Indignation, Promotion and Defense of Human Rights announced that a judge granted the definitive suspension against the construction of Section 1 of the Maya Train.

According to the document, which was signed by the Ch’ol de Palenque, Salto de Agua and Ocosingo communities, the Second District Judge of Amparo and Federal Criminal Trials of Chiapas was the one who granted the definitive suspension against Section 1 of the Maya Train.

The Ch’ol communities filed the lawsuit against President López Obrador. As well as against the Secretary of Health and the head of the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (FONATUR). In the amparo, they detailed that there were violations of their right to health, in addition to environmental damages and their rights as indigenous communities, added the association.

The federal agency added that the trial in its entirety has not been resolved and that a final judgment is pending for a judge.
