Reservations are rescheduled for June 15th.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- As Sinaloa continues at the high peak of Covid-19 infections, the Mazatlán hotel industry will not be able to reopen on June 8 as previously contemplated, now the tentative date is for reopening is June 15th.

The director of marketing of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán, José Gámez Valle, said that since they could not open next Monday they have had to reschedule the reservations that were booked for those dates.

Gámez Valle commented that the reservations that were held for this month, which range in 30%, have not been canceled, they have only been rescheduled, however, there are many doubts about how the occupation of the hotels will operate, but it is estimated that it will be no bigger than 50 percent.

He noted that work is already underway to reactivate this sector and that the hotels have been concerned with staying in compliance with the health recommendations.

He also indicated that for the summer it will be national tourism that will visit the different beach destinations, in this sense Mazatlán will be benefited by road connectivity.

Hoteliers hope that by June 15 the traffic light will change to orange and they can reopen their establishments.
