MÉRIDA, Yucatán, June 3.- In the afternoon, residents of the ports of Celestún and Sisal will be evacuated before the arrival of the tropical storm “Cristóbal” that will leave heavy rains and floods.

The above was reported by authorities of the aforementioned ports that received instructions from the State Civil Protection, to be evacuated and avoid risks.

In Celestún and Sisal, intense rains are expected with the passage of “Cristobal”, which will cause flooding in the lowlands, and to avoid putting the population at risk, they decided to take this preventive measure.

Celestún would carry out mobilizations to shelters

On the official Facebook page of the Celestún city council it was published that the commune was coordinating with Sedena  to initiate visits to the residents’ homes.

The intention of this measure is so that anyone who requires it is transferred to the Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez Secondary School, enabled as a temporary shelter.

The city council asks the residents for their support, taking precaution in the places where they transit since they are working to confront this climatic situation and ensuring that they will continue to report

Tropical Storm Cristóbal is forecast to continue moving southeast and weaken for a couple of days; However, it is expected that on the afternoon of June 4, it will again change direction towards the northeast, with a parallel movement to the coasts of Campeche.
