Around 50 providers of this type of service are living a situation of uncertainty due to the lack of work amid the health contingencies.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa (May 30, 2020).- The tourist guides of Mazatlán are literally on the brink of despair.

The secretary of the Association of Tourist Guides, Jorge Luis Sánchez Barrón, reported that they have had no response from the State Government.

The sector that lives off tourism is the most affected, said the secretary of the committee.

They have applied for loans and have not benefited from the government either.

“We are in a critical stage, without resources and desperate,” said Sánchez Barrón.

The workers’ concern is that there is no suspension of payments for services, such as electricity and drinking water; in addition to needing to buy the basic pantry.

In the association of tourist guides there are 50 workers who are unemployed and without resources.

He argued that they will not benefit from the reactivation of the economy since his main client is cruise tourism. They were in charge of showing them the emblematic places of the port of Mazatlán.

They hope that the condition improves so that the sources of employment begin.
