Mazatlán, Sinaloa (May 29, 2020).- Waves up to two meters high are currently hitting the Mazatlan bay, according to the Aquatic Salvage Squadron, which permanently monitors the Mazatlán beaches, whose access is still restricted as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The ESA commander, Gonzalo Magallanes Romero, recalled that seven days ago the port’s beaches presented a bottom tide, a phenomenon that he considered normal, which did not cause any damage.
The staff under his care is on the lookout for a high tide, which is recorded as a result of the movement of the moon.
On the fourth day, the water remains calm, which is ideal for bathers, who unfortunately cannot enter because it is not allowed right now, he assured.
While monitoring the beaches, from Isla de la Piedra to Punta Cerritos, the official said that the surf has been constant with waves that do not exceed two meters in height.
Gonzalo Magallanes acknowledged that due to the conditions in which the sea is located, there is a great risk for people who enter it, which fortunately they cannot do so due to the closure of beaches that has remained since April 1.
Mazatlan beaches have been closed since April 1, due to the quarantine caused by Covid-19.
