Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Citizens are against the opening of non-essential establishments, both in the city center and in the “José María Pino Suárez” market, during the quarantine period in Mazatlán.

Most of these stores sell products that are normally purchased by tourism, which stopped arriving at the port as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Some of the market tenants were interviewd by OEM:

Magdalena pointed out that the instructions of the authorities, which are aimed at protecting the population, should be respected, after avoiding crowds to prevent infections.

For his part, Horacio Enriquez, acknowledged that merchants decided to open their businesses because they can no longer support themselves (and their families), without working.

Juan Ramírez stated that it is necessary for the trade sector to become aware of the health contingency.

While another business owner named David mentioned that in the opening of the trade sector, priority should be given to establishments that sell food, which is more in demand than those that sell other products.

Finally, Sandro, assured that people need to work, to earn money, since many of these people have not received any income in two months.
