The Hotel Association of Los Cabos reported that when Baja California Sur appeared in the red -maximum level of health alert– at the traffic light presented by the Ministry of Health, it was decided to suspend June 1 as the expected date of opening of hotels in that international tourist destination.

In a video conference call, Mauricio Pérez Salicrup, president of the Board of Directors of the Los Cabos Hotel Association said that the Plan to reactivate the destination’s hotel sector remains, but the dates will be set following the recommendations of the State Council on Health Safety.

“We will be respectful of what the State Council informs us and from then on we will work to make the reopening. We are going to open the destination in a way where the control of contagion will be the priority above all things, “he said.

“The worst thing that can happen to any destination in the world, but particularly to Los Cabos, that we can consider ourselves an island is that we open and that in about two months we are instructed to close again due to an outbreak uncontrolled by COVID.

Pérez Salicrup reported that although the opening date is defined until the authorities give the green light for it, the Reactivation Plan continues (which includes the organization and protocol to follow) and the timeshare segment is expected to be the first to open.

“This segment because it is a very loyal tourist to the destination, knows it and respects it and surely will want to visit its property,” he said.
