The federal maritime terrestrial zone pays over 6 million pesos in taxes.
Mazatlán, Sinaloa (May 4, 2020).- “Naturally, the collection of the tax from the Federal Terrestrial Maritime Zone has continued to be registered in the revenue boxes of the City Council”, said Jorge Contreras Núñez.
The general director of the Operator and Administrator of Beaches in Mazatlán revealed that until the last cut in April, the amount for this item amounts to 6.9 million pesos.
However, he invited those involved, such as hotel businessmen, restaurateurs and service providers in the federal area, to comply with their contributions, since a part of these resources is used to maintain infrastructure on beaches.
“The dependency according to its attributions, remains as an instance that helps in the management for the collection of this tax,” said Contreras Núñez.
In 2019, it was possible to increase the collection from 5to 11 million pesos, and for this year the goal is 13 million, but with the current situation, the ideal would be 21 million pesos.
Contreras Núñez stressed that the OAP focuses on the Playas Cerradas operation, carrying out daily supervision of the spaces in the coastal area that are monitored by staff of the Aquatic Salvage Squad, this with the clear objective of avoiding the risk of Covid-19 infections.
“All preventive measures have been taken, and we continue to work on issues of great relevance to our beaches,” added Contreras Núñez.
He concluded by saying that the team is focused on monitoring the recertifications of Playa Gaviotas and El Verde Camacho by the Mexican Institute for Standardization and Certification, and also progressing in the analysis to provide infrastructure for public beaches of the port.
