Directorate of Ecology and Profepa will carry out a program to give them a more suitable place for the species

Mazatlán, Sinaloa (Informative Reaction) .- The director of Ecology and Municipal Environment, María de Lourdes Sanjuán Gallardo, announced a new program to relocate the raccoons from Cerro del Crestón, also known as El Faro.

He commented that they have already been trained by the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection.

“We started with a training that they are going to give us at Cerro del Crestón la Profepa, we are going to start the program to relocate the raccoons that are in the lighthouse and people are going to lend us cages,” he said.

The carnivorous mammals that take refuge in the hill, with some of the cats that live in the area, will be transferred to another more suitable area.

He explained that the way they will catch is through pieces of food that will be placed in cages.

“Cages were delivered, it was said how to open and close, and we signed as responsible because we must deliver them in two months,” said Sanjuán Gallardo.
