Covid-19 makes unemployed musicians go out on the street and play in exchange for a few coins

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Unemployment has been one of the collateral effects of the health crisis generated by Covid-19.

The closure of hotels, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, and canteens, as well as the banning of parties and gatherings of more than five people, have left the musicians sector totally unemployed.

The only option they have found is to liven up corners of the city in exchange for a few coins. But Sinaloans have shown their solidarity, handing out some pesos as support so that the musicians can cope with the crisis and be able to feed their families.

The proceeds are divided among the members of each group. These days they can be seen on the main avenues, from the coastal promenade to the peripheral areas. Everywhere the drum resounds, as a cry of help from the local musicians.
