Grupo Bimbo, the largest baking company in the world and a 100% Mexican company, designed a plan to support Mexico with over MXN $ 200 million.

This donation will be distributed in comprehensive actions that benefit several sectors in the country so as to face the current situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

“In Grupo Bimbo, we are greatly committed to Mexico and its people, not only by making our products available to everyone but also to perform pertinent and robust actions to face the current challenges in society,” said Javier González Franco, deputy director-general of Grupo Bimbo.

For healthcare heroes
The Mexican company, its collaborators, and shareholders will contribute with MXN $ 70 million to strengthen the health services in the country and for the construction of the Temporary COVID-19 Unit that will be located in Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City and that will have 854 beds for patients who need oxygen therapy, 36 spaces for intermediate care, and other areas for laboratories and medical personnel.

Grupo Bimbo will deliver 2.5 million lunch boxes for healthcare workers facing the health emergency in our country. They will be delivered in public hospitals in different cities throughout Mexico during the next weeks.

They will collaborate with the IMSS Foundation and they will make available their transport system and drivers for the transportation of medicines.

They will also make donations to the Mexican Foundation for Health.

For small businesses
The Mexican company is aware that small businesses are important allies for its value and distribution chain since they are the ones that make their products available in millions of homes.

During this health emergency, the company will give away 1 million cloth masks to help small businesses continue working with preventive measures, both for them and their clients.

Moreover, they will develop incentive schemes focused on small businesses that help them keep their business in the toughest moments of this crisis.

By the hand of the Pro Empleo Foundation, they will launch development programs for small businesses once the contingency ends.

“Mexico counts and will always count with Grupo Bimbo; we were born here 75 years ago and we have always been by the side of Mexican families, ”added Javier González.

The food industry has a key role in order to address the needs of the population amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In order to help vulnerable families, Grupo Bimbo will donate 1 million slices of bread to food banks and it has also collaborated in complementing several aid boxes that will be delivered to the most vulnerable population.

In addition to working by the hand of its collaborators to prevent shortages in any of its points of sale, they have decided not to raise the price of their products during the health emergency.

All these actions are part of the Bimbo Contigo (Bimbo With You) initiative that has helped Mexicans get over challenging times in the country and are part of the actions the company has taken to support the country.
