Civil Protection warns that businesses will have to stop operating or will be closed.
Mazatlán, Sinaloa (April 18, 2020).- Some shops that are not of basic need for this health contingency are still open in the center of the city, under the argument that they have to bring sustenance to their homes.
The president of the Union of Tenants of the municipal market José María Pino Suárez, Alejandro Bernal Reyes, stated that there are around 100 stalls as butchers, chicken shops, fishmongers, cremerías, groceries, and food stalls that remain open, not to mention that there are also some non-essential businesses that refuse to close their doors.
The non-essential businesses that have refused to close during the contingency for the Covid-19, are jewelry and watchmaking workshops, huaracherías, magazine stands, sunglasses, cell phone accessories, haberdashery, clothing and crafts.
For his part, the president of the Mazatlán Chamber of Commerce, Jesús Sandoval, admitted that businesses classified as non-essential are reluctant to close because many of them live day by day, however, each one must take responsibility and value how they want to face these difficult times, healthy or in a hospital bed.
Meanwhile, business closings by the Civil Protection Coordination Agency continue statewide. The businesses that are being shut down are not of basic need for this health contingency and are not linked to the health or food sectors.
