Mazatlán, Sinaloa .- Since the COVID-19 contingency began, there was a drop in the operations of the Mazatlán Central Bus Station, according to the director of that place, Álvaro Peña.
He noted that there is a decrease in daily bus runs of 50 percent compared to a normal season
We already have a 50 percent decrease today in our operations, we are half our capacity
He clarified that routes have not been canceled, however, the number of them has decreased by half.
On a normal day, he indicated that there is an operation of 200 runs on a daily average, while currently there are 100.
In the case of the influx of passengers, he warned that it has decreased by more than 50 percent.
“Right now basically what we have is the transfer of people who return to their place of origin, we hardly have tourism anymore, definitely the passage that is on the doorstep is the local.”
Peña guaranteed that the sources of employment in the bus terminal continue to be maintained, with the same number of personnel and working areas in service.
He recalled that all the necessary precautionary measures are being taken to prevent infections, through a constant disinfection program in the building.
In addition to the programs of the Ministry of Health, in which medical checks are carried out on staff and passengers, as well as the call to respect the healthy distance.
“We have disinfection of common areas which have direct contact with our passenger, we have a shield in some of the lockers to protect employees as well as the users themselves.”
