Cancun, Q.R. — The head of state public security says they have identified a group of more than 160 people on Facebook who are inciting looting throughout the state.

Jesús Alberto Capella Ibarra, the Secretaría estatal de Seguridad Pública, says cyber patrol of the state public security made the discovery of 164 Facebook profiles that incite looting.

In a social media message, the official specified that as of Tuesday, they found 11 accounts in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco, 51 accounts in Benito Juárez (Cancun), 95 in Solidaridad (Playa del Carmen), two from Isla Mujeres, one from Bacalar, one from Tulum, two from Felipe Carrillo Puerto and one in Cozumel.

Faced with this situation, he revealed that 5,000 policemen and women will be on the streets of Quintana Roo every day to take care of citizen security and carry out other actions to lessen the effects of the global pandemic.

“They risk their health and that of their families by doing their jobs. You should stay at home,” said Capella Ibarra in his social media message.
