The first case of coronavirus in Mexico occurred on February 28, it was until March 21 when a patient tested positive in Baja California Sur.

Carlos Mendoza Davis explained that according to the World Health Organization (WHO) the pandemic consists of three phases, viral import, community dispersal, and epidemic.

“The country and Baja California Sur are in phase one, that is, the cases that have been registered are because they have been infected abroad and become ill in Mexico; However, all the health authorities agree, based on what has happened in China, Italy, and other countries and given the characteristics of the virus, it is that more infections will occur in the local population. The important thing is that they occur little by little. That we don’t all get sick at the same time, ”said Mendoza Davis.

Similarly, he stated that the efforts of the government and society are aimed at preventing this from happening at BCS. Fortunately, the majority of the population that is contagious will be asymptomatic, most likely they do not know that they were infected. However, being asymptomatic does not mean that it is not a source of contagion. That is why it is important to take preventive measures.

If we correctly apply hygiene measures, social distancing, to avoid crowds, we will make the desired scenario come true. What does this mean ?, that infections will occur, of course, but in a longer period of time. We must avoid presenting a greater number of cases in a short period of time, “he stressed.

He insisted that if you keep a healthy distance if you constantly wash your hands with soap and water if you avoid waving, kissing, you can beat the virus.

Mendoza Davis called on citizens to remain calm, to consult only official sources and avoid panic buying.

“It is time to endorse our empathy, solidarity, and commitment with our families and with others. Baja California Sur counts on us and each and everyone”, he concluded.
