Mazatlan’s OAP coordinates municipality and federation efforts to organize Playa Gaviotas

Mazatlán.- The Director-General of the (OAP) Operator and Administrator of Beaches, Jorge Contreras, led a meeting this Saturday to coordinate efforts between different municipal and federal entities, in order to order the provision of services, trade and other activities that are developed at Gaviotas Beach.

This area will be audited by the National Institute for Standardization and Certification in the coming days, so it is necessary, in addition to keeping the beach clean, to reinforce actions that allow for the management of the area.

Contreras Núñez, explained the importance of implementing a permanent surveillance operation in Playa Gaviotas that allows each agency to act according to its powers, so that tourists and locals can enjoy a beach in optimal conditions, in addition to keeping the white flag as a clean beach.

He added that the objective of the Mazatlán Government, which is headed by the Benitez Torres Chemist, is to maintain the beach certifications that have been achieved in four sections of the 81 km coastline of the municipality and work to dignify the rest of the port’s public beaches, with a view to increasing the number of certifications during the current administration.

OAP reinforces cleaning actions in Playa Gaviotas

More than 140 kilos of garbage were removed from a vacant lot this Saturday, by hotel staff and employees of the Beach Operator

A few days after the recertification audit of Playa Gaviotas, the Beach Operator and Administrator reinforces the cleaning and management actions in the area, in order to approve supervision and keep the white flag, granted by the National Institute Standardization and Certification.

This Saturday morning, staff from the Emporio, Gaviana and Playa Mazatlán hotels, lodging centers located in the area of ​​influence of Playa Gaviotas, participated in a cleaning day aimed specifically at a vacant lot located in the area, under the coordination of OAP collaborators.

Thanks to these actions, 142 kilograms of garbage were removed, including 2 kilograms of PET plastic, 341 cigarette butts, 6 kilograms of glass, 11 kilograms of hazardous waste, 174 screw caps, 1.5 kilograms of aluminum and 10 straws.

It is worth mentioning that, with the support of the Public Works Directorate of the City Council, this property was previously subjected to weed removal, debris and other debris, in order that the place is clean and does not generate problems for the recertification of Playa Gaviotas.
