Sinaloa.- If the legalization of the cultivation of marijuana for recreational and medicinal consumption in Mexico is approved, the Regional Agricultural Union of Sinaloa (UGRS) will request the government to only authorize sowing in temporary lands, as they are the places where historically this plantation has been had.

Serapio Vagas Ramírez said that the reason is social, economic and historical so that these families that inhabit the mountain area have an economic income for their sustenance in food and many other needs.

“While the temporary zone needs to relaunch this area and the eventual planting, cultivation, harvesting and sale of marijuana could improve living conditions, it has also historically been sown,” he said.

The agricultural leader, Serapio Vargas said that in the irrigation zone there are many crops that are profitable and that allows people to live with dignity, while subsistence farming is developed in the highlands area.
