The Teodoro Mariscal Stadium in the city of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, has been ratified by the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation as the venue for the 2021 Caribbean Series, the first time that the “Latin American World Series” returns to the carnival city since 2005.

In 2017, with an investment of 416 million pesos, the reconstruction of the stadium began, a work that consisted of three stages with a total duration of 15 months. It was repeated on October 13, 2018 with the inaugural game between Charros de Jalisco and Venados de Mazatlán.

The last time Mazatlan hosted the Caribbean Series was in 2005 when Venados, directed by Juan José Pacho, represented Mexico and were crowned before their people with a 5-1 mark. That team had major leaguers such as Vinicio Castilla, Erubiel Durazo and Luis Ignacio Ayala.

Guadalajara was the last Mexican city to receive the Latin American and Caribbean baseball competition par excellence in 2018.
