The Mixe Philharmonic Orquestra of San Pedro and San Pablo Ayutla, in Oaxaca, requested help to recover the instruments that were stolen last Friday when they were protected in the municipal storage.

A total of 26 musical instruments – clarinets, trumpets, saxophone, sopranos, and piccolo – were stolen after the band returned from musical participation by the celebrations of the Virgin of Guadalupe in the community of Monte Rosa, municipality of Ayutla.

“They took our soul and our history,” said Pablo Vázquez Ramírez, president of the Ayutla Municipal Philharmonic Band, founded for over 80 years, which is made up of 50 people, including girls and boys between 6 and 13 years old .

The Philharmonic Band indicated through its social networks that they have received many messages of solidarity to support them, so they shared the list of the instruments that were stolen and an account to make economic donations.

The musical group promised to make transparent the use of donations in a public way “so that each person has the information in the way their donation was invested.

The mayor of San Pedro and Pablo de Ayutla, Rubén Olivares Martínez, asked for solidarity and support to recover the musical instruments.

“The water was taken from our community and children, now the hearts of our community have been silenced because some people without detriment have taken away some of the most precious elements of our people,” he said.
