Mazatlan participates in the 19th Conference of the International Observatory of Participatory Democracy

On this occasion, the meeting attended by political leaders of the world and experts in participation addresses the topic “Participatory Cities with full rights, participatory democracy and the right to the city”

Iztapalapa, Mexico.- Political leaders of the world meet at the nineteenth Conference of the International Observatory of Participatory Democracy, which is held in Iztapalapa, Mexico.

The Mayor of Mazatlan, Chemist Benitez Torres, participates in the OIDP Conference 2019 at the invitation of Clara Brugada, Municipal President of Iztapalapa, host of the event, attended by Government representatives, academics and researchers from 176 cities in 36 countries, including Mexico, United States, Bolivia, Portugal, Congo, France, Ecuador, Mozambique, Spain, and Argentina.

The OIDP Conference 2019 under the slogan “Participatory Cities with full rights, participatory democracy and the right to the city”, includes keynote conferences, round tables, Networking sessions and exchange of experiences on issues such as building democratic cities, local dialogue -global, municipal social agendas, 2030 Agenda and the new urban agenda.

One of the objectives of the Government of Mazatlan is to guarantee the right that everyone has to the city, to make the port a totally inclusive city, so its attendance at this event allows to expand the knowledge on the subject and the exchange of experiences with those who work with the same objective in different parts of the world.
