MAZATLÁN.- After the criticisms in social networks about the placement of Christmas Eve plants and the lighting of lights and Christmas figures in some sectors of the city, the mayor of Mazatlan, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, assured that the objective is to show a city of peace and harmony, according to the feelings that bloom in this winter season with the Christmas and New Year festivities.

He informed that in addition to locals and tourists there will be a series of outdoor Christmas shows, which will be free in a scenario that will be placed along Bahia Avenue, in front of the place where the Central Park is built, and the light show will be 11 from December.

“We are going to start with The Nutcracker right there and then with a series of four-a-day shows that last approximately half an hour. As soon as the Sun goes down we will start every day, they will be totally free, and we will look for citizens and tourists to enjoy them. ”

On the strengthening of security for those days of Christmas shows, Benítez Torres said that the operation is already implemented, and proof of this is that in the early hours of this Friday they found a person stealing Christmas Eve plants.

“I honestly saw the car in which the person was walking, and I consider that this is not a thief of Christmas Eve flowers, it is clear to me that they are people who still want to cause damage to Mazatlan, and I already instructed to have a serious investigation of that. ”

Regarding the investment in lighting in Avenida Del Mar, Olas Altas, and in the Machado and República squares, the municipal president said he did not have the cost, which he does not see as an expense, but as an investment.

What is invested is worth it, because it is going to pay a lot that we already leave the seed for next year so that more people come to Mazatlan at this time.”
