11 thousand 947 people who work in domestic cleaning had been affiliated with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), as part of a pilot program, the headline announced on Thursday of the institution, Zoé Robledo.

At a press conference headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, from the National Palace, the official presented a balance sheet one year after the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation ordered the incorporation of women and men who provide domestic services.

According to the report, about 76 percent of affiliates are women and 26 percent come from Mexico City and the State of Mexico; domestic workers receive around 5 thousand pesos a month.

Robledo Aburto said that the program seeks to make visible one of the most invisible and ignored sectors, domestic workers, who now have access to all the benefits offered by Social Security as a childcare and pension service.

AMLO asks employers to register their employees

The president of Andrés Manuel López Obrador called on employers of domestic workers to continue registering them with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and can count on this social security.

The head of the federal Executive confided that beyond the obligation of employers towards their workers is stipulated in the law, the process advances by the values ​​of the Mexican people.

“While it is true that it is mandatory, the most important thing is fraternity, love of neighbor, that it looks like something in solidarity, and the call is made so that in this way we all participate, help, that we be more fraternal, human, more fair, that we fulfill our responsibilities, ”he said.

During his morning conference, in which among other officials he was accompanied by the director of IMSS, Zoé Robledo, he reiterated that little by little all Mexicans can help improve the results of the registration of domestic workers before Social Security.
