Check the list of things you can go through without problems to the Republic, and which are totally prohibited

If you are a citizen and soon you will return to Mexico to spend the holidays, it is important that you remember that the SAT has a list of merchandise that you can enter the country without paying taxes.

So before taking the road with gifts and other things, first check this list and avoid more expenses by making tax payments or, expose yourself to having your items removed.

This is the list of items that you can enter the country, tax-free.

  • Goods for personal use: clothing, footwear and toiletries and beauty products, provided they are consistent with the duration of the trip, including a trousseau; baby items, such as chair, portable crib, stroller, walker, among others, including accessories.
  • Two cameras or video recording; photographic material; three portable cell phone equipment or other wireless networks; a global positioning team (GPS); an electronic agenda; a portable computer equipment of the so-called laptop, notebook, omnibook or the like; a portable copier or printer; a burner and a portable projector, with its accessories.
  • Two personal sports teams, four fishing rods, three sliders with or without sail and their accessories, trophies or reconnaissance, provided they can be transported commonly and normally by the passenger.
  • A portable device for recording or reproduction of sound or mixed; or two digital image and sound recording or playback and a portable DVD player; a set of portable speakers, and their accessories.
  • Five laserdiscs, 10 DVD discs, 30 compact discs, three software packages and five storage devices for any electronic device.
  • Books, magazines and printed documents.
  • Five toys, including collectibles, and a video game console, as well as five video games.
  • An apparatus for measuring blood pressure and one for measuring glucose or mixed and its reagents, as well as medicines for personal use (in the case of psychotropic substances the medical prescription must be shown).
  • Veils, flasks, trunks, and suitcases or any other item necessary for the transfer of luggage.
  • A binocular and a telescope.
  • Two musical instruments and their accessories.
  • A tent and other camping gear.
  • A set of hand tools with its case, which may include a drill, tweezers, keys, dice, screwdrivers, power cables, among others.
  • Passengers over 18, a maximum of 10 packs of cigarettes, 25 cigars or 200 grams of tobacco; Up to 3 liters of alcoholic beverages and 6 liters of wine.
  • Older adults and people with disabilities, items that by their characteristics meet or lessen their limitations, such as walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, canes, among others.

In addition, you can import, without paying taxes, up to 3 pets or pets that you carry with you.

Of course, avoid crossing these goods because they are prohibited:

  • Alcoholic drinks.
  • Wrought tobacco.
  • Automotive fuel, except that contained in the fuel tank of your vehicle.

The INM sets amounts of additional merchandise that citizens may bring Mexico

This Friday, November 29, during the morning conference of the president of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the National Institute of Migration (INM) detailed the amount of the articles that the countrymen will be able to enter the country.

Ricardo Ahued, director of the General Administration of Customs, detailed the rates to be paid by the countrymen returning to Mexico and for which items.

 “Mexicans abroad who return to the country may introduce additional merchandise to their luggage with a value of up to 500 dollars,” he said

He confirmed that a security deposit must be made for the vehicles of the countrymen, but the money is returned when they leave Mexican territory.

On personal property such as clothing, footwear and toiletries, baby items (such as strollers or chairs), cameras and recording equipment, electronic agendas, portable computer equipment, sports equipment, said they are free to enter.
