Hurricane season is over with heavy rains in Mazatlán

Mazatlan, Sin. – The Mexican Pacific Coast Hurricane Season 2019 is officially ending on Saturday Nov. 30th, with 21 meteorological phenomena (when only 19 were predicted for this year).

The head of the local meteorologist of Conagua, Hugo Nordahl Valdés, said that with the rains recorded on Thursday November 28 in Mazatlan, caused by the Cold Front 18, the season says goodbye to start the winter season 2019-2020, that goes from September through May.

The systems that entered the Mexican Pacific this year were the following: Alvin, in June; Barbara, Cosme, Depression 4-E, and Delilah in July; Erick, Flossie, Gil, Henriete and Ivo, in August; Juliette, Depression 12-E, Kiko, Lorena and Mario, in September; Narda, Depression 17-E, Octave and Pricilla, in October, while November closed with Raymond and Depression 21-E.

For this winter season 2019-2020 that began in September and concludes in May, the National Meteorological Service of the National Water Commission (Conagua) forecasts 53 frontal systems that will enter Mexican territory, higher than the historical average of 44.
