The monitoring is limited to burying them in the beach area where they are found

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Neither the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection nor the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources follow up on sea turtle deaths in Mazatlan, said Fernando Enciso Saracco, a fishing biologist.

With more than 40 years of experience in that area, he told Reaction Informatica that these federal agencies do not give the seriousness that deserves the deaths of the chelonian and that they are only limited to lifting them and burying them in the same beach area.

“Neither Semarnat nor Profepa do anything to investigate the causes, nor do they intervene in necropsies, nothing! Rescuers just bury them. There are several cases of this as evidence, ”he said.

Enciso Saracco said he also said that the Marine Mammal Strand Care Network exists in the State of Sinaloa and that Profepa is responsible for promoting and promoting, but it does not work as it should.

“I have not been part of it for a long time, because it does not work as it should be, now I do not touch the turtles, wolves or cetaceans, as I did before, but I am pending because everything is reported to me,” he said.

So far this year there have been more than 25 dead sea turtles on the beaches of Mazatlan and El Caimanero, in El Rosario.

The last two appeared in areas of Mazatlan beach.
